About Thompson & Leigh
Thompson & Leigh Ltd has been supplying Kent & the South East with plumbing & heating products for nearly 80 years. Founded by Fredrick Edwin Thompson in 1946 and reformed by Douglas B. Thompson in 1984, the company is now run by Ian and David Thompson — the third generation of the family.
Today we operate 11 branches: 9 trade counters (7 with bathroom showrooms), two dedicated 4,000 sq ft luxury bathroom showrooms in Crayford and Bexleyheath, and a Pipes & Civils division in Dartford. We carry the widest product range from the best industry brands — and the kind of expert knowledge you only get from a true independent.
Three Generations of the Thompson Family
From Fredrick Edwin Thompson's first shop in 1946 to Ian and David's 11-branch operation today — eight decades of independent family ownership.
Founder. Fred Thompson opens the original Thompson & Leigh in 1946 — setting the standard of independent, trade-first service that the family still holds to today.
Second generation. Douglas reforms the business in 1984, establishing Thompson & Leigh Ltd in its modern form and laying the foundations for the multi-branch operation we have today.
Third generation. Ian and David now lead Thompson & Leigh — 11 branches across Kent & the South East, two 4,000 sq ft luxury bathroom showrooms, and a dedicated Pipes & Civils division.

From the initial design through to the final installation, Wanessa handles procurement of sanitary ware, tiles and furniture, and liaises directly with your tradesperson. The result: a luxury service most showrooms simply don't offer.

We have two dedicated 4,000 sq ft luxury bathroom showrooms — one at Unit 28 Bourne Industrial Park in Crayford, and one at 241 Broadway in Bexleyheath. Both are open to the public with no appointment needed (though appointments are welcome).
No — you can drop in during opening hours. If you'd like to book time with one of our designers (such as Wanessa at Crayford) we recommend calling ahead to make sure they're free for a proper sit-down.
